Maduro Declares 3-Day Weekend, Discourages Hair-Dryer Use To Save Energy

In another attempt to save power and stave off an energy catastrophe, Maduro declares 3-day weekends throughout April and May, with Fridays off. He also appeals to Venezuelans to avoid using air conditioning and electric clothes dryers. Maduro also says that to help conserve energy, women should not use hair dryers, commenting “I always think a woman looks better when she just runs her fingers through her hair and lets it dry naturally. It's just an idea I have.”

An AP report says that although Maduro and his regime blame the energy crisis on the El Nino drought and sabotage by opponents, “experts say rationing could have been prevented had the government invested in maintenance and in the construction of thermoelectric plants.”
