Maduro asks Supreme Court to block resources to National Assembly

President Maduro asks the Comptroller General and the Supreme Court to block resources to the opposition-controlled National Assembly, which was democratically elected in December. Maduro claims that the National Assembly is operating “outside the law,” following the swearing in of 3 controversial lawmakers. They were barred from taking their seats by the Supreme Court following December’s election over allegations of electoral fraud. Their entry would have given the opposition a two thirds ‘super-majority’ to curtail President Maduro’s powers.
