Amnesty, HRW condemn government abuses

Human Rights Watch (HRW) and 125 other human rights and civil society groups call on the international community to pressure Maduro to end his “State of Emergency” decree. Erika Guevara-Rosas, director of Amnesty International's Americas division, visits Venezuela and condemns “serious violations” of human rights there. A subsequent statement from Amnesty International concludes “The Venezuelan authorities’ stubborn denial over the country’s current humanitarian crisis, coupled with their refusal to ask for international aid, are putting the lives and rights of millions of people at serious risk.
